Girdle Purse – Pattern #1

Because I needed a larger and more practical pouch I went looking for a pattern for what I knew as a “Kidney Pouch”. More accurately termed a girdle purse. For modern life I need it to fit a cell phone, an battery bank, car keys, wallet, field notebook, writing implements, and have room for more odds and ends. Laying this stuff out it all easiliy fits withing the given sizes of the many extant girdle purses shown in “Purses in Pieces” by Olaf Goubitz.

Working from those examples and the given dimension I drafted a paper pattern. Given that these purses came with many different divisions and pocket sizes, dividing the pockets to seperate and protect my items fits within period design.
