After a long hiatus from the SCA, the desire for social and creative outlets came screaming back. In response I was able attend the Barony of Stonemarche’s Haper’s Retreat (https://stonemarche.eastkingdom.org/events/harpers-retreat/). At this event I was able to attend A&S classes, enjoy the martial lists, do a little shopping, reunited with friends, and share delicious beverages with new and old friends over an amazing feast.

Basket weaving was a topic that stuck with me after the after the event. Thanks to Thais the Weaver for their class Stitching a Coiled Basket for unlocking this rabbit hole 🙂

Within the the 2 weeks following the event I know have a new craft box full of basket weaving supplies, books, and my first completed coiled basket. Basket making happens to be a thing I can do while having conversations, watching videos, and I find it to be an enjoyable way to pass them.

Another thank you goes to Brian of Stonemarch and their class on How a Man Shall Be Armd. This class was a discussion of their work on an A&S project. Really a journey through many related A&S topics, which resonated with my wide ranging interests and showed me an A&S path that emphasizes the synergy that exists across the sciences. From blacksmithing, to corsetry, to weaving, to archery, to cordwaining, and numerous other specialites needed to just dress a knight in armor.
